El Dorado

El Dorado is a large train suitable for parks with a route between 800 m and 3,000 m in length.

Powered by an 80 hp diesel engine, the locomotive is able to tow up to 6 carriages for a total capacity of 100/120 passengers. Wheelchairs can also be loaded on a specially adapted open carriage.

The pneumatically operated automatic doors on both sides of the carriages allow easy operation and fast loading / unloading on tracks with intermediate stops.

El Dorado requires tracks type S18 DIN 5901, gauge 845 mm (33 1/3 in), maximum recommended slope 2.0% and a minimum turning radius of 15 m (49 ft), measured on the track’s center line.

a) 6 automatic doors with pneumatic drive on one side of the coaches, controlled by the driver with a single lever; optional automatic doors on both sides
b) “Door open” light on the driver’s panel to prevent the train from moving abnormally if the doors are not closed
c) ‘dead-man’ pedal to stop the train in the absence of the driver
d) pneumatic brakes on each carriage plus hydraulic brake on the locomotive and mechanical parking brake
e) each carriage is equipped with shock absorber springs for a smooth journey
f) all the axles of the coaches supported by ball bearings
g) tape reader and amplification system with loudspeakers on all coaches to transmit music and other announcements to passengers; the driver can stop the recorded messages and transmit emergency announcements using a microphone; on request Alcorn Mc-Bride digital audio player
h) low voltage lights and emergency lights mounted on the ceiling of each carriage
i) the tender is equipped with wider doors and fastening belts to carry passengers on wheelchairs with their carers
j) shiny brass domes and brass finishes on the locomotive
k) catalytic filter on the exhaust pipe to eliminate the fumes
